Back in October of last year I received an email from Peggy Smolen, the then editor of McKinney Magazine, stating that they had a position at the magazine shooting food and would I be interested. I jumped at the chance. I didn't have a lot going on at the time and I like to eat, why not? Every month I shoot for a issue that is coming out at least 2 months down the road. I work with the food editor, Debbie Dennison, a Foodie, and just awesome, she really has a sense of what looks good and is very easy to work with. She prepares the food and we usually shoot at her house. Last week I got a sneak peek at the cover and VIOLA!!, it was my image. They felt it needed some tweaking on a particular spot. someone didn't like the "starburst" effect on the spoons. But they needed it done in 1 hour and could I get it done....of course. The Bridges of Dallas County Saturday night, June 6, I went on a night photography adventure with a group of friends (family) from the Dallas Professional Photographers of America guild (DPPA). I love these excursions and the people involved. Each of us come from different photography backgrounds but join together for some creative fun, and hopefully creative images. Saturday night's adventure involved the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge on the Trinity River just outside of downtown Dallas.

A dam's New E ars I have always told myself that if I ever created a blog I would include these two photos as the first photos. They are among the most chariest photos I have ever taken and they mean the world to me. The first photo is Adam at 3 1/2 years old the moment his cochlear implant was turned on. When you have a cochlear implant you are rendered deaf in the ear(s) that has the surgery as they snake the probe into the cochlear (shell shaped organ) in the inner ear. During the surgery they also place a metal disc behind the ear. This is the spot where the, almost cyborg looking, disc shaped object will make the connection for the processor that you see outside the ear of a person wears an implant. The doctor waits a month before attaching the the processor because they want to allow plenty of time for the surgery site to heal. Infections this close to the brain carry many risks.
