A little spring color to offset the dreary wet weather we have been having. This is a Peony that comes back every year in our yard. The grow in our climate zone very well.

A dam's New E ars I have always told myself that if I ever created a blog I would include these two photos as the first photos. They are among the most chariest photos I have ever taken and they mean the world to me. The first photo is Adam at 3 1/2 years old the moment his cochlear implant was turned on. When you have a cochlear implant you are rendered deaf in the ear(s) that has the surgery as they snake the probe into the cochlear (shell shaped organ) in the inner ear. During the surgery they also place a metal disc behind the ear. This is the spot where the, almost cyborg looking, disc shaped object will make the connection for the processor that you see outside the ear of a person wears an implant. The doctor waits a month before attaching the the processor because they want to allow plenty of time for the surgery site to heal. Infections this close to the brain carry many risks. Adam of course could hear for his first 2-3 years but it started going do

Today I bring you a sign of spring, ants on a peony bud. I took this yesterday afternoon in our yard. This plant is the only one that has survived out of the five I bought three years ago. Every year the bush seems to grow larger than the previous year. Having grown up in Houston I always heard about peonies from my mom but I don't recall ever seeing them. It wasn't until we moved to Peru, Indiana that we experienced the beauty and fragrance of this elegant flower. In front of our house were large bushes of them and every year we awaited their arrival. Mia & Mindy really enjoyed them. These photos are from 2003. In Indiana the ants were a larger black ant. The ants are attracted to a nectar that is on the outside of the bud. As soon as the flower blooms the ants disappear. These were taken in 2003. When the plant finally flowers the fragrance is very sweet and powerful. Here are photos from 3 years ago.

The Bridges of Dallas County Saturday night, June 6, I went on a night photography adventure with a group of friends (family) from the Dallas Professional Photographers of America guild (DPPA). I love these excursions and the people involved. Each of us come from different photography backgrounds but join together for some creative fun, and hopefully creative images. Saturday night's adventure involved the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge on the Trinity River just outside of downtown Dallas.
